We currently only use SHX fonts but I have been getting many requests from users to allow the use of True Type fonts. I have read conflicting posts on other forums discussing whether or not TT fonts slow down AutoCAD. Is speed an issue? The last question is regarding the installation of the fonts themselves. Is there a way to ensure that the desired TT fonts are installed on every workstation? The last question is regarding the installation of the fonts themselves. Is there a way to ensure that the desired TT fonts are installed on every workstation? My rule is to only use fonts that come standard in the installation. This way you never have this problem. Either on your computers or anyone you send the drawing too. I hate when someone sends me a drawing that uses some custom or third party fonts, without sending the font. Sometimes it violates the license agreement for the software to distribute the files. Personaly I use shx fonts that come as standard in the body of the drawings, as simple as possible confining fancy and true type to title blocks. In the past I had to plot some files with a lot of true type fonts and the poor old plotter took for ever process the file and then ran out memory. The solution was to reduce the settings controlling the quality of the curves. It still took and age to process but it was within the memory capacity of the plotter. Everyone works in their own way but its worth remembering that a drawing is a means of transfering information and not a work of art, and that the hard copy may be used in workshops and on building sites in poor lighting, coffee and oil stained, folded and unfolded time after time and generaly miss treated so simple and clear fonts are weather the storm better than fancy ones. Can anyone point me into the direction of finding the links from the aforementioned TTF problems (see mjfarrell). I seem to be having the same problem while using AutoCAD 2007. The Architect sent files over without including the fonts and the regeneration process has become an issue. The drawings lock up for hours! When i accidentally select an xref (clipped or not) the regeneration process takes longer and longer each time. I selected a xref by accident on Saturday, went to lunch and came back to find that the file had maxed out the CPU (100%) and was running over 1Gb of my 2Gbs of ram. This nonsense has been occurring for the past couple of weeks and seems to only be getting worse. Please point me into the right direction or shed some of AUGI's expert advise. Thanks in advance, ~David. We find in our office that truetype fonts do slow the drawings by quite a bit. We only use ttf for detail references and title blocks all the rest the text we use is romans.
